The WSET Level 1 Spirits is a beginner level introduction to spirits, for those starting a career in the industry or pursuing an interest in spirits. For individuals new to the subject, this qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of spirits. In this class, we explore the main styles and types of spirits through sight, smell, and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting aromas and flavors.

Price includes the WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits study guide, tuition, all spirits tasted during the day (tequila, vodka, rum, bourbon, whiskey, liqueur, brandy), printed materials, exam, certificate and lapel pin (if you pass the examination). Mailing of Study Guide and result materials (certificate and pin) to continental USA is included in the price. For all WSET qualifications, we provide students with the proper ISO tasting glasses to use during class at no additional charge.

In-person on Saturday, from 9am-4pm. Please select dates below.

Assessment

Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 45 minutes. The assessment will take place on the same date as the class, at the end of the day. A total mark of 70% is required to achieve a pass. All students who pass will be issued with a certificate and will receive a lapel pin. Mailing of Study Pack and result materials (certificate and pin) to continental USA is included in the price.

Kindly note that you have six months, from the course start date, to sit the exam. After six months, you will have to purchase and re-take the entire course before you can sit the exam.

Entry Requirements

You must be at least 21 years of age to attend the course and to participate in any alcohol tasting.

Refunds/Changes

If you need to cancel or change the date of the course for any reason you can do so up to 13 working days before the course starts for a $25 administrative fee. Making changes to your registration within 13 business days of the class date will result in an administrative change fee of $175. No refunds are given for changes made within 3 business days of the class date.

Printed Materials

All students will be sent printed study materials to the mailing address provided upon course registration and will receive tracking information when the materials have been shipped. We recommend adding the email address ‘info@floridawineacademy.com’ to your safe sender list, in order to prevent any relevant communication going to spam. It is the responsibility of the student to liaise with USPS regarding any issue relating to the delivery of these materials. Florida Wine Academy is unable to replace printed study materials free of charge in the case that an issue arises with delivery. Kindly note that in the situation where a student wishes to cancel their course registration, the cost of the printed study materials is non-refundable.
