The course is based around a 5-week structured online programme with a recommendation of 6 hours study per week to cover the online activities and read the relevant chapters in the textbook. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is essential for this mode of study.
The course follows a weekly structure, but it allows the student to work ahead or catch up on the activities and forums. There are no set times to log into the course as there are no live chats or webinars.
Week 1: Introduction to Wine Tasting, Pairing, Storage & Service
Learn to taste and describe wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. Discover the key considerations when pairing food and wine successfully. Learn the processes and principles of wine storage and service.
Week 2: Factors Influencing Style, Quality & Price
Study the factors influencing the style, quality and price of wine in the vineyard and winery. Discover how to decode and understand labels.
Week 3: White Grape Varieties
Learn about the characteristics and styles of wines produced from the main white grape varieties and the regions producing them.
Week 4: Black Grape Varieties
Learn about the characteristics and styles of wines produced from the main black grape varieties and the regions producing them.
Week 5: Sparkling, Sweet, Fortified Wines
Learn about the various methods for making Sparkling, Sweet and Fortified Wine, the resulting wine styles and the regions producing them.

Exam
Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 60 minutes. A total mark of 55% is required to achieve a pass. All students who pass will be issued with a certificate and will receive a lapel pin.
Students enrolled in the WSET Level 2 online will take their exams online via Remote Invigilation. The candidates will take the exam on a computer in a secure environment from their home where they are monitored via webcam, screen sharing technology and a secondary recording device (cell phone). Students will still need to register for their exams through Florida Wine Academy, and will be taken at a pre-determined date and time.
Results may take up to 8 weeks to be released by WSET.
Printed Materials
All students will be sent printed study materials to the mailing address provided upon course registration and will receive tracking information when the materials have been shipped. We recommend adding the email address ‘info@floridawineacademy.com’ to your safe sender list, in order to prevent any relevant communication going to spam. It is the responsibility of the student to liaise with USPS regarding any issue relating to the delivery of these materials. Florida Wine Academy is unable to replace printed study materials free of charge in the case that an issue arises with delivery. Kindly note that in the situation where a student wishes to cancel their course registration, the cost of the printed study materials is non-refundable.

What happens after I register for an online course?
After receiving your order, Florida Wine Academy will register you with WSET for the online course dates selected. You will receive an email with further information regarding the online course once you have been successfully registered. Please note that this can take up to two business days.

I had the pleasure of taking the online version of the WSET 2 provided through the Florida Wine Academy. Set up was easy and Alessandra Esteves kept in touch with me during the class. Not only did she answer questions, she offered suggestions on wine to taste during the course. This was a perk as it was not It required by the Academy to do such. The online version is well structured and you have personal contact with the online class leader. In my case my instructor was fantastic in helping lead the class through the material. The online version worked best for my schedule as it allowed me to proceed through the material at my own pace.
All that said Alessandra kindly invited me to the last class before the exam, once again not required by WSET. Having the in person class was a great experience. For me. it was that session which helped me determine that for the WSET 3 I would do an in class session with Florida Wine Academy. The personal guidance of Alessandra during the class was unparalleled.
