Piemonte is considered to be among the world’s finest wine regions, and is home to more DOCG wines than any other place in Italy.  Completely landlocked and bordered by the Alps and Appenine mountains, that creates an ideal climate for growing high quality wines. Best known for the powerful reds of the Barolo and Barbaresco regions, Piemonte also offers everything from white to sparkling to sweet styles.

In this tasting we will get to know some of the most important wine appellations and as well as a look at Piemonte’s fascinating grapes and winemaking efforts used to produce them. Matteo Calvaruso from Castello di Perno will join us and Nick Jackson MW will moderate the tasting.

Castello di Perno is an important, up and coming estate in Piedmont of which wine lovers will be hearing a lot more in years to  come.  The brain child of Milanese lawyer Gregorio Gitti, Castello di Perno was founded in 2012 and owns 14 hectares (35 acres) of vineyard in the Monforte d’Alba, Nizza and Alta Langha regions, all farmed organically.

We will taste the following wines:

– Langhe Nascetta 2020

– Nizza 2017

– Langhe Nebbiolo 2018

– Barolo 2017

– Barolo Castelletto 2017

The wines will be paired with small bites.
