4/2 – A Study of Saint-Émilion with Château Ausone, Cheval Blanc and Friends

Saint-Émilion is one of Bordeaux’s most complex and historic appellations. Its limestone plateau, clay slopes, and gravel parcels create distinct expressions within a compact area. Cabernet Franc plays a defining role in many of its most respected estates, shaping wines built for structure, precision, and longevity.

Alessandra Esteves, DipWSET, official Bordeaux Educator, and Master of Wine candidate, will lead this comparative study examining vintage variation, terroir differences, and producer style across nearly four decades of Saint-Émilion, in a lineup of almost $3,000.

Wines:

  • Welcome Champagne

  • Château Figeac 1986

  • Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 1994

  • Château Pavie 2004

  • Château Cheval Blanc 2012

  • Château Ausone 2014

  • Château La Dominique 2019

  • Château Angélus 2020

This lineup allows for direct comparison between mature and contemporary vintages while highlighting the diversity within iconic Saint-Émilion’s leading estates.
