Italian Wine Classes in Miami: Italian Wine Essentials Course by Florida Wine Academy

Taught in person at 305 Wines in Miami, this two-day intensive course takes place on May 3–4, 2025, and is presented in partnership with the Wine Scholar Guild (WSG). Students will taste 20 different wines and have the option to earn a certification upon passing the exam.

What is Italian Wine Essentials?

Italian Wine Essentials is part of the WSG Essentials series, created by Wine Scholar Guild to simplify complex wine regions and deliver core knowledge in a clear and engaging format. The course highlights must-know regions, grape varieties, and wine styles of Italy, while also exploring the country’s culture, cuisine, and winemaking practices.

This is not just an introductory class—it’s a solid foundation for anyone considering further WSG programs such as the Italian Wine Scholar® certification.

Whether you're in wine sales, service, or simply passionate about Italian wine, this course will help you better understand what’s in the glass—and how to communicate it.

Course Format and Dates

• Dates: Saturday, May 3 (9:00 AM–5:00 PM) and Sunday, May 4 (9:00 AM–1:30 PM), 2025

• Location: 305 Wines, 8233 S Dixie Highway, Miami, FL 33143

• Instructor: Daisy Penzo, WSET Level 3 Certified, Italian Wine Scholar, and Italian Wine Ambassador

Over the two-day period, you’ll explore Italy’s major wine regions through guided tastings, interactive discussions, and a comprehensive coursebook provided in print and digital formats.

What’s Included

• A printed and digital copy of the Italian Wine Essentials course book, filled with detailed maps, photographs, and infographics

• One-year access to WSG’s e-learning platform with interactive modules

• Tasting of 20 wines representing key Italian regions and styles

• Optional exam at the end of the second day (50 multiple-choice questions)

• Digital certificate upon passing the exam

There is no tasting component on the exam itself, and students have 45 minutes to complete the multiple-choice test. A score of 60% or higher is required to pass.
