Today the Florida Wine Academy announced the launch of their new webinar format classes for WSET Levels 1 & 2 in Wines.  The first Level 1 in Wines webinar will take place April 6th to 8th from 10am-12pm EST.  All classes will be live, giving the students the opportunity to ask questions and receive responses in real time.

Tasting wines

Guided tasting tutorials will still be given, and specially curated wine packs are available to the students to purchase so they can follow along at home.  The wines will be available through 305wines.com, with certain areas of Miami being eligible for free delivery.
“We understand that the current situation brings a lot of uncertainty.  We want our students to know that while we have to adapt to rapidly changing scenarios we are still here to support them in their desire to learn” said Alessandra Esteves, co-founder and Director of Education for Florida Wine Academy.  “Even though students cannot be in the academy physically this new format allows them to interact, engage with the instructor and other students, and taste the wines.”

How it works

Students can register for their course of choice on the Florida Wine Academy website.  They will need a reliable internet connection and to download Zoom, which is free.  As with all distance learning courses for WSET students will still need to take the exam in person at a later date.  “The health of our staff and students is our top priority at this time” emphasized Ms. Esteves.  “The exams will be held when it is deemed safe for everyone to return to the academy, and will initially be offered in staggered time slots to small groups.”
The cost of the program is $269 and includes all webinar hours, materials, exam, certificate and pin and shipping.
WSET Level 2 in Wines is due to launch in mid-April with a similar structure though more webinar hours and recommended tasting samples will be included. WSET Level 1 in Sake Webinar will be launched in May.
